About Anna

Anna Binnewies

I grew up surrounded by art and design as the daughter of an artist and designer. I've always been drawn to how color shapes a space, changes its mood, and influences how we experience our surroundings.

As a San Francisco native, I'm especially interested in the relationship between color and place. The Bay Area's distinctive light, varied architecture, and coastal landscapes all influence how color looks and feels here.

I studied art and architectural history before building a career spanning 14 years in color, materials, and trend research. My design experience includes work with Restoration Hardware and World Market, and my career has taken me around the world exploring design influences and how color evolves across cultures, industries, and environments.

That experience has given me a broad visual vocabulary, a strong understanding of color and materials, and the ability to translate inspiration into thoughtful, practical palettes for the home.

Expertise, With a Collaborative Approach

Color is both technical and personal. A shade that feels perfect to one person may not feel right to another, and making decisions for your own home can be difficult when so many factors come into play.

Throughout my career, I've worked with different teams, perspectives, and creative priorities. I've learned how to listen, navigate differing opinions, and help people move from competing ideas toward a clear direction.

I bring that same approach to residential color consulting. My role is to understand what matters to you, offer an informed point of view, and help you make decisions with confidence.

Why Color Matters

I believe the colors we live with can make our homes feel more welcoming, more personal, and more connected to their surroundings.

Sometimes that means finding a calm, cohesive palette. Other times, it's about introducing an unexpected color that brings a space to life.

There's no single right answer. The goal is to find the colors that work for your home and feel right to you.

I'd love to help you find them.
